  1. How do you mean negative calories? If you mean low-cal, many of the foods on this list are extremely high carb and sugar (mostly the fruit).

    4. People who do not eat fruit get scurvy because of vitamin C deficiency. Before they even knew what vitamin C was, sailors on long journeys with no fresh fruit developed it.

      We are omnivores. Our closest primate relatives eat fruit and fruit has been a staple for hunter-gatherer societies. Strangely enough they did not get fat from them. Mankind has been cultivating fruit for at least 10,000 years. And they did not get fat. Carbs are good for you unless they are refined.

      As a side note most likely the reason we evolved color-vision was to be able to see fruits.

    5. Fruits, even though they have natural carbs and sugars, these don't turn into fat. These fruits burn more calories when digesting then what you are consuming, so the carbs and sugars from them only keep you from going crazy. No way you can gain any fat or much less weight when eating raw fruits and veggies, or any negative calorie foods.
      Example: When you eat half a pink grapefruit, you consume around 45 cals. but you burn over 400 cals.

And let me tell you that there are two types of carbohydrates: starchy (bread, rice, crackers etc.) And sugary (fruits, honey, milk, added sugar foods etc.) So whilst you think that you are not consuming carbohydrates, you are through the fruits and other foods which contain sugar.

      handfull of salted almonds, celery with peanut butter, avocado with some cracked salt and pepper or lemon, unsweetened green tea with lemon, salmon with salt, pepper, cayenne pepper, and some lemon

      you can be pro anna and still maintain your health

      TAKE YOUR FUCKING VITAMINS
      DRINK PLENTY OF WATER
      EXERCISE (cardio) TO KEEP YOUR HEART STRONG

It is downright irresponsible to tell people this false stuff..Fruit is a high fiber food that won't cause weight gain because of the fiber ( insoluble fiber) the sugar in it won't spike your blood sugar… vegetables are better for weight loss..the only way to lose weight is to first use pup your glycogen stores which is immediate sugars stored in the liver and muscles. About 12- 24 hours of fasting . After glycogen stores are depleted , stored fat is converted to glycogen to be burned..If you don't eat high carb/ high glycemic index foods( processed sugars) you body will burn a little protein but mostly your brain and body will break down stored fat into glycogen then glucose… There is no such thing as negative calories , except if you drink ice water … I am a physicians' assistant and a registered dietician ,and struggled for years ….

  4. there ARE factually foods that you will burn more calories digesting than the food contains. there are also, factually, many foods (often fruits) that regardless of the calories and natural fructose sugar, the body metabolises them very quickly if they are eaten at the right time and in the right proportion and the person is an ACTIVE person. you CAN eat fruit! just dont eat it before bed, dont eat it after protiens or starches, and dont eat a ton of it. even those guidelines are not true for everyone - many people can eat as much fruit as they want and never gain an ounce - some are even purely fruit eaters only. the lists of "negative calorie foods" are not intended to be medically biblical - theyre recommendations of foods that the body metabolizes in a non-fattening manner, and in that respect, theyre great lists.

    1. I suppose in that regard we can disagree. Fruits are certainly nutritious and worth eating, but the assertion I made was in reference to weight-loss only.
      I agree with the fact that fruit metabolized quickly; be that as it may, its caloric content remains unchanged.
      For anyone who's more Mia than Ana or isn't particularly worried about eating nutrient- and calorie- dense foods, fruit is ideal and healthy.

  6. A lot of the fruit on here will cause insulin spikes, regardless of being "natural sugar." It's still going to be metabolized as sugar. Eating unprocessed fats doesn't make you gain weight, eating sugar does. You have absolutely no idea what you're talking about.

    1. If you are prone to insulin spikes (which not everyone is) consuming protein with it takes care of the problem. The only people who need to worry about this are diabetics and hypoglycemics.

      Our bodies run on sugar. You just need to eat the right kind. Fiber in fruit slows down the absorbtion of the sugar.

      Fruit does not make you gain weight. If what you said were true then all of the skinny people who include a good amount of fruit in their diets would be fat. Why does the government recommend several servings of fruit a day?

      Not only that but we need the fiber.

      It is only when we started eating refined carbs that mankind started to get fat. First the elite (several centuries ago being fat meant that you could afford to eat well) and now us.

    2. you are absolutely right ..ANYTHING you put into your mouth that is food is either converted to sugar, amino acids( protein) or glycerols/ Fatty acids ( fats), period…… sugar, protein, fat…period… Eating an avocado is pure fat ,but it won't be stored as fat bc it has too much fiber ..high fiber foods, the foods listed above will be processed by the liver which produces bile , which is emulsified and digested …the foods listed above are also low glycemic high fiber foods…

Carbs are stored as glycogen but fat the second it gets in your blood its stored as fat the reason why eating carbs make you fat is because you eat carbs with fat and carbs are preferable to fat in terms of energy so your body uses carbs and stores fat its simple math if you want to lose weight you have to either cut carbs or fat out of your diet if you dont eat carbs you get into ketosisbut getting into keto adapted mode takes a long time about 1 week to a month and you get a flue at first trust me ive tried it and i felt like shit i had no energy and its again calories in calories out you just consume some fats with veggies to survive if you eat a lot of fat you will use that instead if fat stored in your body so yeah and meat spikes insulin too you cant have much protein or meat

  8. The way the body digests sugar in fruits is much different than normal sugar. It goes through your liver slower, thus digesting different, thus not attacking you like refined sugar.

    1. fruits are good but are high in sugar . vegetables( not corn or potatoes) are better bc they have less sugar… stick to low glycemic index foods… plain yogurt , salad,fish , non fried meats, fruit in moderation, soups with no rice /noodles.. Foods like beans that " experts" say are good are high in carbs, so are nuts, bananas, oatmeal , and other high carb foods..keep your insulin levels low and you will burn fat and lose weight… keep it low glycemic.. good luck

  13. Have you heard of the Glycemic Index? Foods that are low on the Glycemic Index help with weight loss because they minimize insulin. High insulin levels is what causes the body to store fat. So when people eat a lot of carbs and sugar that is high on the Glycemic Index, the body secretes a lot of insulin to prevent "sugar poisoning" (too much sugar) in the blood. This also causes a burst of inflammation which causes or aggravates various diseases. So not only is it healthy to eat food that is low on the Glycemic Index - but another major benefit is weight-loss. Also, foods high on the Glycemic Index are more likely to cause hunger than foods low on the Glycemic Index. That's why a piece of cake or bread is not enough and you want more - but eggs and vegetables helps to reduce hunger.

I totally agree with your glycemic index premise.. you know your science… Being overweight is not only bad for your physical appearance and psyche ,but it also produces inflammation in the body that is linked to soooo many diseases. some foods will cause you more hunger and produce insulin,some foods have the opposite effect … I'm glad there is someone intelligent on this site … BTW, if you're low on Potassium, bananas, cantaloupe, watermelon ,and spinach are foods high in K+… it was a question on my boards

    1. The website says there's no science behind the negative calorie premise . Only 10 % is burned to account for chewing and metabolizing , the rest if the 90% is stored or used for energy pep ending on the individual's needs .

  17. think about it... its better to curb your sweet tooth on a piece of fruit then to snap and binge on crappy refined sugary foods like chocolates and candies. the way your body metabolises fruit is alot different to they way it processed refined sugars. dont be afraid to eat fruit

    1. I was 223 lbs and I'm only 5 feet tall! So I know how you feel. It's a disgusting feeling. I'm now down to 168. I didn't give up food completely, but I do work out, and I cut back a lot. The hardest part was when I'm bored I like to snack on sweets. I had to stop that. And I only drink water, no soda or juice. We can do it!
